Just Kids – Patti Smith

In late-1960s New York, two young artists meet: future punk icon Patti Smith and photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. They become lovers, roommates and each other's greatest support, at a time when they had almost no money but were full of dreams.

Smith describes their life at the Chelsea Hotel, their encounters with artists and musicians, and their search for a voice of their own. The book won the National Book Award in 2010 and is regarded as one of the most beautiful tributes to friendship, art and the city of New York.
